Hello -- I'm Jeannette. I moved to northern California in 2006 after spending the first 40 years of my life in Berlin, Germany. I was born, raised, educated, and employed in Berlin, and have two teaching degrees from the Institut für Lehrerbildung (Institute for Teacher Education) covering grades 1-6, and the Humboldt University of Berlin covering grades 7-12.
I became a high school teacher immediately upon graduation, teaching German, sports, and music. I moved to the US upon acquiring a work visa to teach German at the prestigious German School of Silicon Valley (GISSV). After 3 years, I decided to move on to pursue my passion for personal one-on-one instruction. I have over 20 years experience as a German teacher.
I started teaching private German lessons both face-to-face and remotely via Skype / Google Hangout in order to serve clients across greater distances. I also worked part-time in San Francisco at the Goethe Institute, providing services to companies in need of German instruction for their employees. These included Fortune 500 companies such as Genentech (Swiss Roach owned), and San Francisco Opera.
While at the Goethe Institute, I attended lectures to refine my online German instruction skills, for which I received full certification. I now teach numerous clients residing in Germany and the USA. I really love teaching, whether it is online or in person. I strive to give my clients the dedicated personal attention they deserve, and to assist them with accomplishing their goals in learning German at any level.
